What is the best way to get corporate sponsorship for events?

 | Here is a high-level overview of the fund-raising process that we use for helping clients acquire corporate sponsorship through Business Coaching. |
There are three primary opportunities for events: selling exhibitor space, product and service sponsorships, and financial sponsorships.
- Start with organizations that normally target your audience's demographic.
To identify prospects:
- Query your network for warm leads
- Start with the obvious choices and those with deep pockets. Larger companies will generally have a section on their website that outlines their criteria and process for handling corporate sponsorships.
- Get a copy of the local phone book in the area of the conference and approach the various listed companies in that industry.
- Google search similar events and find companies that have previously participated as sponsors. If they only sponsor non-profits, then you will need to partner with a non-profit to pull off the event.
- Be clear on the specific benefits for the sponsors
- Have a realistic estimate of your promotional reach and expected attendance.
- Even if you do not max out attendance for the event, if your promotions will reach thousands or millions of people through print, radio, or television, that can be a strong selling point for your sponsor.
- A well thought-out proposal and marketing plan can help make up for a limited track record of promoting events. However, I strongly suggest partnering with those who have significant conference planning experience, resources, and connections.

Best Ways to Use Your Tax Refund

 | In March and April of every year, millions of Americans will be filing their taxes and receiving sizeable refunds. |
Here are seven smart ways to make best use of your tax refund:
- Reduce your credit card debt.
It is difficult to build wealth if you are paying 20-30% interest on credit cards. There are few better uses of your tax refund than paying down your high interest rate debt. You can use the Resources section of BaronSeries.com to obtain your free credit report and find the fastest way to pay-off your debt.
Contribute to a Roth or Traditional IRA.
Through April 15th, individuals are allowed to contribute up to a $5,000 ($6,000 if you are age 50 or older) to an IRA for tax year 2008. If you are unable to make the April 15th deadline, you can make your 2009 contribution with it instead. For 2009, individuals are allowed to contribute up to a $5,000 ($6,000 if you are age 50 or older).
Fund a 529 plan.
For many parents and students, the cost of higher-education has become increasingly difficult to manage. According to the College Board, tuition and fees at public colleges and universities have increased 51 percent on an inflation-adjusted basis over the last 10 years. 529 plans can be a great way to begin saving for your children’s college education. Some states even offer an income tax deduction for residents who contribute to a 529 plan.

When did you realize that you had a passion for writing, publishing, etc.?
I have always had a passion for writing because there was always a message that I wanted to convey, even as a little kid. My passion for writing is really a reflection of my deeper desire to help others. I also love writing as a medium because of the longevity, leverage, and potential impact of the work. I can write something once and positively affect the lives of millions of people around the world for generations to come. As we discuss in our book, The Baron Son, passion if harnessed appropriately is one of the most powerful forces there is. I always encourage people to make it a priority to become business owners and investors either through their passions or while pursuing their passions. The power of true passion combined with sound business and financial practices can make anyone wealthy—in every sense of the word.
How did you master the topic you'll be presenting at BWRC?
I have been writing professionally for over 15 years. I started out as a teenager doing freelance articles for magazines and newspapers. Next, I moved into writing marketing copy for Fortune 500 firms and small businesses. I later found worldwide success by creating and marketing The Baron Series line of books, audio CDs and other related material. Each step of my journey has prepared me for the next opportunity. Looking back, I now see how all the pieces fit together and how my experiences set the stage for my accomplishments as an author and writer. I have had years to figure out what works and what doesn't, and I look forward to helping others shorten their learning curve.
If you were to describe your upcoming sessions/ presentations in one word, what would it be?
Profitable.
What is one piece of advice that you'd give all aspiring authors?
Writing is a business; treat it like one. To be successful, it will take coaching, vision, planning, a strong network, investment, training, commitment and sacrifice. When it comes to achieving your writing and publishing goals, having a coach is one of the best investments you can make. You can more than double your chances for success by having a coach who can help you plan and who can hold you accountable for making measurable and sustained progress toward your goals. I spend over $15,000 a year on training just in the areas of effective communication, marketing, publishing and copywriting because I know the training will yield dividends six times over.
